California Climate Change: Carbon Dioxide: Unjustly Vilified

California is pursuing an expensive course to mitigate a climate crisis expected by some citizens as a result of adding the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide to the air. The science underpinning this course is investigated here to test whether it is justified. Costs involved are viewed, and the degree to which a climate crisis is averted is tested. California data on climate change with respect to precipitation, extreme heat, drought, floods, rising sea level, hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires are tested against carbon dioxide. In every case, the dangers of these climate changes are found to be greatly overstated. For most of California, extremes of temperature are found to have decreased, and precipitation has stayed nearly the same or increased. Droughts, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires are shown to be the same or no worse than earlier in California state history.
